shown were originally written for or commissioned by
professional, working ensembles. Most of them are suitable
for college-level ensembles but are NOT recommended
for high school ensembles or any beginner-level groups.
This music is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for medium to advanced
college ensembles, military jazz-dance-stage bands,
adult community jazz ensembles & professional-level
rehearsal bands who are looking for music that is different
and unique - music apart from and beyond the jazz
music publication industrys standard fare. If

We accept only pre-paid mail orders for jazz charts,
unless you are buying for a college, university or military
unit. Schools and military units should submit a valid

poem has 3 distinct sections: a lyrical section in even
8th-note feel with theme statements by piano and flugelhorn

section featuring trumpet ad-lib (plunger is encouraged!).
A piano & bass ad-lib duet leads back to a recap of
the first theme and a mysterioso ending. Piano part is
a bit detailed, but very playable. Transitions between
sections will take a bit of rehearsal. Woodwind doubles

Piece is dedicated to the memory of George Cherb, a legendary
figure in Dallas-Ft. Worth music circles and one of the

minor-key swinger is a challenging yet fun ride for the
more advanced jazz combo. Chart has an ABCA form as follows:
a misterioso hard-bop style line stated by
the horns over a shifting bass line in parallel fifths.
The B theme is unison horns over a bass line
made up entirely of up-beat 8th notes. The C
theme is more unison horns, this time over a driving shuffle
